FOCUS

The meeting will include speakers and attendees from industry, academia and government and will focus on advanced technologies and strategies that will enable integrated photonic devices, modules and systems to provide break-through capabilities for a variety of applications ranging from communication to sensing. A goal of the meeting is to identify key issues for deployment of new technology and areas for future research.

Topics and Meeting Format

The meeting will include a Plenary Session that will present industrial, academic, and government perspectives on the challenges facing photonic systems. Specific sessions will be chaired by CIPS faculty.

Each topical session will review current research results, technology development, and applications. Speakers will be from inside and outside the MIT community. A portion of each session will be reserved for an open discussion of major technical and market issues. There will be two parallel sessions on both meeting days.

The meeting will start with an 8AM breakfast on Thursday, May 4th, and concludes at 3PM  on Friday, May 5th. There will be an extensive poster session highlighting CIPS research activities, and there will be ample opportunities for attendees to interact with CIPS faculty, invited speakers, and students.
