Vortex Lattices and Vortex Liquids in Atomic Bose Gases

A fundamental characteristic of condensed Bose systems is their response to rotation. The formation of quantized vortices and their ordering into regular lattices are dramatic manifestations of the collective quantum behaviour of these systems. Ultra-cold atomic gases offer the chance to explore rotating Bose gases in new parameter regimes. I shall give an overview of the new groundstates that can emerge in rotating atomic Bose gases, for contact interactions, and for more general interactions (dipolar, and Feshbach resonance).
