Outreach: K – 12

The CUA regularly both runs and participates in outside events aimed at a K-12 audience. The majority of these events are open to all students, and aimed at local, Boston-area students and their families.  Our graduate students and postdocs enjoy participating in local science fares, speaking to school classes, and hosting students to hear about our research and view the labs.

Cambridge Harvard Summer Academy lab tours 2016

A group of local high school students from the Cambridge Harvard Summer Academy, hosted at Cambridge Rindge and Latin, visited the Harvard CUA for interactive lab tours. Scott Bustabad, former TOP participant, taught for the academy this summer and coordinated lab tours offered by Elizabeth Petrik West and Adam West from the Doyle group. As in the previous year, the students greatly enjoyed the time in the labs and sent some very appreciative thank you notes!

CUA hosted K-12 students as part of the MIT Open House (April 23, 2016), which included a talk by Martin Zwierlein on ?What is temperature? What is ultracold? And how do we get there?? and hands-on activities.
