Quantum Information Science @ MIT
Quantum information science is vibrant and alive at MIT, across more
than five departments, and including both the School of Science and
the School of Engineering.
QIS@MIT is part of the iQuISE program, which adds to the sense of
community of quantum information science at MIT through a weekly
seminar series featuring world-leading researchers in quantum
information science and engineering, and through bi-weekly informal
lunches for iQuISE Associates in MIT’s Quantum Information
Science Common Room. It also includes teaching opportunities for
iQuISE Associates, both as assistants in Course Q subjects, and in a
summer course in the MIT
Professional Institute.

"There is widespread belief that fundamental ideas from QIS will lead to useful new information technology, and provide computing, communication, and control systems beyond the limits of traditional paradigms. These carry with them profound social implications. This is why iQuISE will incorporate education in ethics and social context."
—Jeffrey H. Shapiro, Co-Director, iQuISE, and Julius A. Stratton Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director, Research Laboratory of Electronics
