The Sixth International Conference on Quantum Communication, Measurement and Computing (QCMC’02) is being held in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA from July 22 to July 26, 2002. The previous meetings in this series,

• Quantum Aspects of Optical Communication — Paris, France, November 1990
• Quantum Communication and Measurement — Nottingham, United Kingdom, July 1994
• Quantum Communication and Measurement — Fuji-Hakone, Japan, September 1996
• Quantum Communication, Measurement and Computing — Evanston, Illinois USA, Aug 1998
• Quantum Communication Measurement and Computing — Capri, Italy, July 2000

drew together researchers from many countries and covered topics in quantum information theory, theoretical and experimental aspects of quantum computing, quantum communication systems, cryptography, new quantum effects and their experimental realizations, generation detection and applications of nonclassical light, quantum noise, stochastic processes and filtering, quantum measurement theory, and quantum control. These same topics will be covered at QCMC’02.

The conference program features plenary, invited, and contributed talks as well as poster sessions. The Fourth International Awards on Quantum Communication, established by the Research Institute of Tamagawa University, will be presented at the QCMC’02 banquet. The conference proceedings will be published by Rinton Press.
