Xiaolong Hu is currently a graduate student in the M. I. T. Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He received his B. S. and M. S. degrees in 2003 and 2006, respectively, both from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University. He received a second M. S. degree in 2008 from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, M. I. T. He is a student member in IEEE and OSA.

His research now focuses on superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors, related optical nanostructures and device physics, and applications of the detectors in quantum optics and communications. While a student at Tsinghua University, his research included enhancement of light emission from silicon quantum dots using surface plasmons, metamaterials, fiber lasers, and semiconductor lasers.
