Francesco Marsili is currently a postdoctoral associate in the Quantum Nanostructures and Nanofabrication group at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

He received his doctorate in physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL) in February 2009. His doctoral thesis focused on the deposition of superconducting ultrathin films and on the fabrication and characterization of single-photon and photon-number-resolving detectors based on superconducting nanowires.

His current research focuses on high-resolution electron beam lithography and on the characterization of high-sensitivity superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors.
