Stephan Schulz is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Quantum Nanostructures and Nanofabrication group and in the quanta research group at the MIT-Harvard Center for Ultracold Atoms. His doctoral thesis focused on scalable microchip ion traps for quantum computation. His diploma thesis focused on the manipulation of cold polar molecules using microfabricated devices.

His current research focuses on quantum optics and quantum information science with microchip Paul traps. The design, development and operation of novel superconducting hybrid microtraps with integrated microwave stripline resonators will allow experiments towards quantum information science with trapped polar molecular ions as qubits.

Furthermore his research interests are the design and fabrication of devices for atom and molecule optics.
