James White is a junior in the undergraduate 2-A program for the M.I.T. Department of Mechanical Engineering. He is currently working to develop thermally sound packaging and connection assemblies for testing superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs) inside cryocoolers. Specifically, the parts he develops prevent SNSPDs from undergoing substantial temperature change in response to the oscillating core temperature of the cryocoolers.
