Biographical Background
Professor Karl K. Berggren is a principal investigator in the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His research focuses on methods of nanofabrication, especially applied to superconductive quantum circuits, photodetectors, and high-speed superconductive electronics. His thesis work focused on nanolithographic methods using neutral atoms.
Professor Berggren received his B.A. and Ph.D. in Physics from Harvard University in 1990 and 1997 respectively. From 1996 through 2003, he was a staff member of the Analog Device Technology Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He joined the MIT faculty in 2003 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is Associate Director of the RLE NanoStructures Laboratory (NSL) and chairs the supervisory board of the RLE Scanning-Electron-Beam Lithography (SEBL) Facility.
