Biographical Background
Dr. Philip W. Rosenkranz is a principal investigator in the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He received the S.B., S.M., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1967, 1968, and 1971, respectively. He did postdoctoral work at Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and in 1973 joined the research staff at MIT's Research Laboratory of Electronics, where he is presently a Principal Research Scientist in the Remote Sensing and Estimation Group. He has done research on the interaction of electromagnetic waves with constituents of the terrestrial atmosphere and surface, on remote sensing of geophysical parameters from aircraft and satellites, and on radio astronomy of planets and the interstellar medium.
