ABOUT THE GROUP The major thrust of the RLE Retinal Implant Research Group is to develop a microelectronic retinal implant to restore vision to patients with age-related macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa. The group's implant design has unique features that improve its safety, function and performance. Efforts are currently underway to test the implant design.
