Shireen received her B.S. degree in Applied & Engineering Physics from Cornell University in 2005 where she worked in the Quantum and Nonlinear Photonics Group. Before coming to MIT, She worked for a year at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) in Singapore on AC electrokinetic based microfluidics. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Material Science and Engineering. She is a recipient of the National Science Scholarship from the Agency of Science Technology and Research (A*STAR) Singapore. Her research is in the area of online monitoring in high-throughput microbioreactors.
