Evelyn Kapusta

kapusta@mit.edu

Evelyn Kapusta first became interested in opto-electronics during her undergraduate research at Mount Holyoke College studying the thermal effect of optical feedback on edge emitting lasers.  After graduating with a B.A. in Physics in 2005, Evelyn worked at Raytheon in the Optical Phased Array group in free space optics and beam steering technology.  During her three years there, she helped design and test a number of laser-communication systems.  In July of 2008 Evelyn started at MIT in the Physical Optics and Electronics group.  She is currently pursuing her M.S. and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering with a focus in integrated photonics, specifically optical isolator design and fabrication.  Evelyn is also the recipient of the Irwin and Joan Jacobs Presidential Fellowship supporting new graduate students whose research focuses in communication.
