Ningren (Peter) received his B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2011. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree with Professor Ram on computational and statistical approaches for optical spectroscopy, which involves designing and building miniaturized computational spectrometers and developing mathematical and statistical model to understand complex spectroscopy datasets. His previous works include designing an optimization algorithm for computational lens at MERL, Cambridge, developing the control protocol for a programmable and portable protein production platform, and demonstrating electrically tunable terahertz quantum cascade lasers. He is the recipient of the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal and Institute of Engineers Gold Medal from NUS and the Siebel Scholarship for his master’s degree at MIT.
