Q: How do I become a member of RLE and sign in?
A: If you are already an MIT employee or student, go to RLE Headquarters, room 36-413, and see the staff at the front Reception Desk. You must sign in before working on any RLE research project or using any RLE space or facilities, even if you are already appointed in another MIT department, laboratory or center. If you are not already an MIT employee or student, please note that RLE appointments require the prior written approval by the Director or Assistant Director for Administration of a written request by your supervising RLE principal investigator.

Q: How do I get a key to an RLE room?
A: Go to RLE Headquarters, room 36-413, and see the staff at the front Reception Desk. A key request form must be completed and endorsed by your supervisor. All keys are MIT property and non-transferable, and you must return them to RLE Headquarters upon termination or transfer. Key requests may take up to two weeks to be processed by MIT's facilities department.

Q: How do I terminate and sign out of RLE?
A: Go to RLE Headquarters, room 36-413, and see the staff at the front Reception Desk. All RLE keys, and equipment must be returned at this time. We ask that you sign-out at least one day before leaving RLE and provide forwarding contact information.

Q: How do I get an MIT campus parking sticker?
A: RLE administers a limited annual allocation for campus parking. RLE spaces are only available to MIT employees with their primary appointment in RLE. Go to the RLE Headquarters Annex, room 36-412, and see the Personnel Staff Administrator for assistance. Note that parking spaces are severely limited by MIT, and you might be wait-listed. RLE also has a limited number of day passes for visitors who are here on important RLE business.

Q: Whom do I contact about MIT or RLE human resource policies and procedures?
A: Contact the Assistant Director for Administration to discuss any aspect of MIT and RLE hiring, personnel, and other human resource policies and procedures.

Q: How do I obtain RLE help for a new United States visa or to renew one?
A: Many different US immigration laws and MIT policies govern the status of foreign visitors to MIT. No later than four months prior to the intended appointment date of the visitor, an RLE principal investigator must write to the Assistant Director for Administration to request advance approval for the visit. Visa processing is then coordinated by the Personnel Staff Assistant.
