John graduated from Cornell University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (summa cum laude with honors). He has broad interests in the theoretical aspects of digital signal processing and information theory. Currently, he is working in the STIR group pursuing his S.M.

At Cornell, John worked with Professor Lang Tong's Adaptive Communications and Signal Processing group, where he did research in sensor networks, autonomous vehicles and dynamic spectrum analysis. Specifically, he worked on a model for distributed sensing communications via autonomous mobile sensors and helped design a prototype transmitter/receiver that can communicate on an occupied WLAN channel without disrupting the original users.

John interned at NVIDIA Corp in Santa Clara, CA for two summers working on graphics chips. He also served as president of the Kappa chapter of Eta Kappa Nu from 2006 to 2007.
