Zheng received his B.S. degree in physics from Peking University, Beijing, China in 2013. In his undergraduate research, he worked on electronics properties of nanoscale materials and devices. He is currently working on photodetectors based on polycrystalline silicon for integrated photonics. He is an Outstanding Graduate Student of Beijing and a recipient of the Presidential Fellowship at MIT.
