Summer 2025 — Graphic Design Internship
Location: Cambridge, MA., mostly remote. Occasional visits to campus may be needed for site-specific work.
Duration: Summer 2025 with possibility for continuation.
Organization Overview: The Research Laboratory of Electronics at MIT is an interdepartmental, multidisciplinary academic research center. It is comprised of roughly 1000 members including ~100 Principal Investigators and their research groups which include Postdocs, Graduate Students, Undergraduates, and Research Staff. Job Description: We are seeking a creative and motivated Graphic Design Consultant for project-based work. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of graphic design, including creating visual content for digital and print media under the supervision of the Media Design and Web Content Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Exhibition design including 3D display cases with wall text, and signage.
- Assist in the design of brochures, banners, ads, and social media graphics.
- Brand identity design for research groups.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates a range of design techniques.
- Excellent communication skills.
Desired Skills:
- Artificial Intelligence (ChatGPT, MidJourney, Generative AI in Adobe)
- Front end webdesign for WordPress. Alternate CMS’ welcome.
Time/committment:
This is an unpaid position for 5–10 hours/week.
