Sebastian Palacios is a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. His research focuses on precision genome engineering and machine learning for engineering sophisticated biological behavior in human cells with an emphasis in medical applications. He received the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, the Harvard-MIT Martha Gray Prize for Excellence in Research for his graduate research at MIT, and the MIT Golden Beaver Award for his excellence in leadership at MIT. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Georgia Tech, where he also received the award for most outstanding undergraduate researcher in the School of Engineering. Besides his active leadership in science and engineering, Sebastian is a passionate leader and mentor for diversity in STEM.
