Alvaro Sahagun is a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with a concentration in Solid-State Devices at MIT. His application-driven research focuses on nanofabrication, nanodevices (photonics & electronics), and 2D materials to bring forth the next generation of devices. He is also a GEM Ph.D. Engineering/Science Fellow and an Alfred P. Sloan Scholar. Alvaro received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a passionate mentor and supporter of students from underrepresented communities through his work in STEM mentoring programs and organizations.
