Professor Arthur B. Baggeroer is a principal investigator in the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He holds appointments as Ford Professor of Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Professor of Electrical and Ocean Engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He received the degrees of B.S.E.E. from Purdue University in 1963 and Sc.D. from MIT in 1968.

While on sabbatical leaves, he has been a consultant to the Chief of Naval Research at the NAT SACLANT Center (1977) and has been a Cecil and Ida Green Scholar at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (1990).
