Sixian You is an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Principal Investigator in the MIT Research Laboratory of Electronics. Her research interests lie in biophotonics, microscopy, and computational imaging. Her research develops imaging or sensing solutions for real-world biomedical problems through innovations in optical physics, instrumentation, and algorithms. She is interested in understanding how light interacts with tissue or media, how images are formed, and how these images can be useful for biomedical applications. Building on these interests, the goal of her research is to develop optical imaging and sensing systems, esp. microscopy techniques, to address basic science questions and enable clinical applications.
Sixian received her Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2019 and 2016, respectively, and B.S. degree from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2013. She has won the Amazon Research Award, the Microscopy Innovation Award, and the Nikon Photomicrography Competition Image of Distinction award. Her work has been featured on the Cancer Research Cover, PNAS Cover, and Nature Communications Editors’ Highlight.
